Getting Around

Transportation to and within Japan

In Japan, the public transportation network is very vast and well-developed, and it is known worldwide for its matchless punctuality. Barring some unforeseen act of nature, the departures and arrivals of airplanes and trains are almost never delayed because of error or laxity. By using airplanes or the Shinkansen (Bullet Train), travelers can go back and forth between cities conveniently and quickly. Moreover, within the major cities, the extensive subway networks allow users to go to just about any destination by only a few transfers. And with so many taxi companies in operation, taxis are also a very convenient way to get to where you want to go.
