Processed Food World

To ensure safe and long-term food preservation, our ancestors developed various food processing methods. Preserved foods not only last longer, they also taste better and are more nutritious.

In this section, visitors learn about ideas, methods, technologies and effects of food processing, by doing quizzes.

This section also presents maps of Japanese traditional processed foods, such as pickles, fermented soybean paste and soybean sauce and other amazing fermented foods around the world.

State-of-the-art Farming World

To eliminate hunger on a global scale, humans have introduced state-of-the-art technology in agriculture. Visitors will see an extensive display of seeds of rice, wheat, corn and other grains, developed through the Green Revolution, that represent technological progress taking place for the “survival” of human beings.

To offer a glimpse of future foods, this section also spotlights factory production of agricultural products. Visitors see how vegetables are grown with their own eyes.
