Welcome Cards

The Japan National Tourist Organization has prepared a variety of special Welcome Cards for the use and convenience of travelers visiting Japan from abroad. These cards, which allow you to get special discounts at hotels, restaurants, stores, and sightseeing attractions, are issued by local government offices throughout Japan, and some can be obtained through the Internet.

1. Tokai Welcome Card and Stickers

Users: All non-Japanese. You can get a printout from the Heartland website at http://www.j-heartland.comor a leaflet “card” from the Tokyo TIC, any "i" Tourist Information Center in Japan, and several travel agents such as JTB. Showing the printout or leaflet card will enable you to receive discounts at 256 hotels, restaurants, and tourist sites in Aichi, Gifu, Mie, and Shizuoka prefectures. You may be asked to show your passport when you use this service.

2. Narita Welcome Card

Users: All non-Japanese visiting or living in Japan for less than one year. Users can receive discounts of from 5 to 20% at 53 affiliated restaurants, stores, sightseeing spots, and hotels within Narita City. The card can be obtained at the Tokyo TIC, Narita City TIC, the Narita Airport TICs, and elsewhere. You must show your passport to obtain this card.

3. Tokyo Museum Guide

Users: All non-Japanese. This must be printed out from the website of the Tokyo Convention & Visitors Bureau (TCVB) at http://www.tcvb.or.jp. With this guide, users can receive discounts at 12 museums including the Aida Mitsuo Museum.

4. Tokyo Handy Guide/Handy Map

Users: All non-Japanese. Showing the card in the Guidebook or using the attached coupons can allow you to get discounts on admission to 38 facilities in the Tokyo area. The guidebook and map can be obtained at the Tokyo TIC office, the Tokyo Tourist Information Center offices in the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Main Building and Haneda Airport, JNTO overseas offices, and other places.

5. Mt. Fuji Welcome Card

Users: All non-Japanese. This card must be printed out from the website of the Mt. Fuji Welcome Card at http://www.mtfuji-welcomecard.jp/. With this card, users can receive discounts at 213 hotels, restaurants, and sightseeing facilities in the Fuji, Hakone, and Izu areas in Yamanashi, Kanagawa, and Shizuoka prefectures. You may be asked to show your passport when you present this card.

In addition to the above, various local governments such as those listed below are also issuing welcome cards.
