EXPO 2005 “Linimo” Design Contest

Japan Association for the 2005 World Exposition Seeking Designs for Carriages

The maglev linear motor car nicknamed “Linimo” will be one of the methods of transportation to the EXPO 2005 AICHI, JAPAN venue, and the Japan Association for the 2005 World Exposition will be providing one train (consisting of three carriages) to the Aichi Rapid Transit Co.

In order to commemorate EXPO 2005, designs are being solicited for a wrapping that will go on the three carriages provided with funding from the Nippon Foundation. (Details are included on a separate form.)

1. Nature of contest

Design for the wrapping of Linimo cars that will run on the Tobu Kyuryo Line during EXPO 2005

2. Period of entry

Begins Tuesday, August 24, 2004. Entries must be received no later than Sunday, October 31, 2004.

3. Requirements and conditions

Any individual, either professional or amateur, may submit an entry regardless of age, gender, or nationality.

5. Prizes

First Prize-one entry(design will be used): ¥300,000, certificate, and commemorative goods
Second Prize-one entry: ¥100,000, certificate, and commemorative goods
Honorable Mention-five entries: certificate and commemorative goods

6. Results

Results will be announced in mid-November 2004 (tentative plan).
