On advance reservations

It's very busy and we weren't able to get advance reservations. Will we be able to see anything?

EXPO 2005 AICHI, JAPAN is the first International Exposition of the 21st century, and has pavilions from over 120 countries and other entities from all over the world. Nearly all of the pavilions can be visited without advance reservations, so anyone visiting an EXPO site will be able to enjoy a wonderful international-flavored visit to EXPO 2005 AICHI, JAPAN.

Because only people with Internet access can take advantage of advance reservations over the Internet or using a mobile phone, they have been restricted to only 15 pavilions, most of which are Japanese corporate pavilions, and they only represent 20% (25,000 seats) of the overall capacity of those 15 pavilions.

The EXPO sites are full of overseas pavilions and events that do not use advance reservations and are ready for you to visit. It is certainly not the case that you need to queue for hours whichever pavilion you wish to visit. Please come to the EXPO site and discover for yourself the international flavor of EXPO 2005 AICHI, JAPAN.

The corporate pavilions are also making it easier for visitors without advance reservations by issuing same-day reservations and numbered tickets to take the place of queuing.

Is there an easy and convenient way to make reservations?

Advance reservations only cover a small proportion of admissions. Having only a limited number of reservations available means that most of the millions of people who access the reservations system are unsuccessful in securing a reservation.

Keeping in mind the following guidelines will increase your chance of securing reservations.

(1) Register all your admission ticket numbers with the system before it becomes congested (immediately after buying the admission tickets).

(You can register with the system before deciding the date you wish to reserve.)

Doing this registers a password with the system in advance, so you save time by not having to register a password as part of the reservation process.

(2) Sign in with your pre-registered admission tickets before the system becomes congested at 9:00 a.m. each morning.

Being already signed in reduces the amount of interaction you need to do with the system when making a reservation.

(3) If you get a “The reservation system is difficult to access now.” message or similar message, retry by clicking the retry button on your browser rather than closing the browser and starting again.

Can I make reservations without having an admission ticket already in hand?

You can't make reservations if you do not know the admission ticket numbers.

But not all pavilions are subject to advance reservations. Same-day reservations are possible for some of the pavilions

If I reserved a seat but could not visit the site on the day for which the reservation was made, can I still consider that a seat will be available if I come on another day?

Not automatically. For advance reservations, the reservation will be cancelled after the appointed day.

The admission ticket is still valid, however, and you can make another reservation again after cancellation.

I can't make any reservations though I would like to visit the site tomorrow.

The time to apply for an advance reservation is by midnight (24:00) of two days before the visit.

You can use same-day reservations available at the reservation computer terminals at the site.

I would like to make reservations on different days with two advance reservations.

With each admission ticket number, it is possible to make reservations only for a single day.

I would like to make two reservations in the morning but I can't.

Is the time interval between the end of the first time period appointed for assembling and the beginning of the next time period appointed for assembling at least 120 minutes (2 hours)? You should make this time interval at least120 minutes (2 hours). Please leave that much time in order to make two reservations for the same morning.

This time interval is set to make sure that visitors can in fact keep the reservation for the second pavilion / event in consideration of the time it takes to visit a pavilion / event and the time it takes to go from one to another.

* For instance: If the first time appointed for assembling is from “10:00 a.m. to 10:10 a.m.,” the beginning of the next one should be 12:10 or later when you will make a reservation.

Are any advance reservations available for people without PCs or mobile phones?

No, advance reservations are not available for people without PCs or mobile phones.

Why can't I access the desired pavilion to make a reservation through Internet by PC?

Korea Pavilion, NEDO Pavilion, Japan Pavilion Nagakute, Aichi Pavilion Nagakute, EARTH TOWER (NAGOYA CITY), Wonder Circus-Electric Power Pavilion, JR Central Pavilion, Mitsubishi Pavilion@earth, Hitachi Group Pavilion, MITSUI-TOSHIBA Pavilion, GAS PAVILION, TOYOTA GROUP PAVILION, Nature School Forest, Global House Orange Hall/MAMMOTH Lab., and Global House Blue Hall/MAMMOTH Lab. (These are also available for some events)

In addition, advance entrance applications by postcard are also available for some pavilions and events as is the case of Satsuki and Mei's House.

From when should I make advance reservations?

You are allowed to make reservations at 9: 00 a.m. one month before the scheduled day (for example, application for making a reservation for May 10th begins on April 10th.).

Application for a reservation for May 31 begins on May 1st, and for July 31 on July 1st.

What is meant by “the time appointed for assembling”?

It is the time period which each pavilion sets individually for visitors to assemble outside the site before they enter it.

Visitors may enter a pavilion whenever they come within the time appointed for assembling. Please note that at some pavilions visitors may be subject to keeping up with the “flow” and exiting the pavilion more or less in the order by which they entered.

When I have made reservations in several groups, as my group has more than 10 members, groups have been registered for different times.

Groups may have to be registered for different times, depending on space availability.

What will happen if I am late for the time appointed for assembling?

Please note that your reservation will have been cancelled.
