“Industrial Infrastructure in the 21st Century: A Message for the Development of Eco-Communities” is the theme and the forum will be focusing on “Company Management and Environment Governance”, and discussing the companies and industries reponsibilities to the society and the environment. The discussion will be about the method how we are able to realize a sustainable society integrating environmental, economical and social factors.

  • Prof. José Goldemberg
    [Former Secretary of the Environment of Federal Government of Brazil,Secretary of State for the Environment of the State of São Paulo]

Professor José Goldemberg earned his Ph.D. in Physical Science from University de São Paulo of which he is Full Professor and former Rector. He has served as the President of Brazilian Association for the Advancement of Science, President of the Energy Company of the State of São Paulo (CESP), Secretary of State for Science and Technology, Secretary of the Environment and Minister of State of Education of the Federal Government of Brazil. He has authored many technical papers and books on Nuclear Physics, Environment and Energy.

Kosuke Ikebuchi entered Toyota upon graduating in 1960 from Osaka University, where he majored in welding technology. Production technology in domestic and overseas operations has been a continuing emphasis for Mr. Ikebuchi. In the 1970s, he participated in engineering the Tahara Plant, Toyota's largest vehicle plant in Japan. Then, in early 1984, he joined the technical team that coordinated start-up work at the production joint venture between Toyota and General Motors in Fremont, California.

Mr. Ikebuchi became a vice president at the California joint venture in May 1984 and served in that capacity for three years. Returning to Japan in 1987, he became a general manager at the Takaoka Plant, which manufactures passenger cars, while continuing to play a role in supervising production activities in North America. Mr. Ikebuchi joined Toyota's Board as a director in 1988, and in 1994, was appointed managing director. He was named senior managing director in 1996, where he was involved with production and logistics, specifically safety and health promotion, and operations management consulting. He also oversaw Toyota’s Kamigo and Shimoyama plants. In 1999, Mr. Ikebuchi assumed the position of executive vice president. His areas of responsibility included production and Total Quality Management promotion. In 2001, Mr. Ikebuchi became a vice chairman.

Shinji Fukukawa is Executive Advisor to the Dentsu Inc. He graduated from the University of Tokyo in 1955 and joined the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI). He served as Private Secretary to Prime Minister Masayoshi Ohira (1978-80); Director General of the Coal Mining Department, Agency of Natural Resources and Energy (1980-82); Director- General of the International Trade Administration Bureau (1982-83); and Director- General of the Minister’s Secretariat (1983-84); Director-General of the Industrial Policy Bureau (1984-86); and Vice Minister (1986-88). Then he became Senior Advisor to MITI, Japan Industrial Policy Research Institute, and the Nomura Research Institute. He was appointed as Vice President of Kobe Steel Co., Ltd. in 1990 and Vice Chairman in 1994. Then, he served as Chief Executive Officer of the Dentsu Institute for Human Studies from 1994 till 2002. He is concurrentlyChairman on agriculture policy committee to Keizai-Doyukai) Japan Association of Corporate Executives), Advisor and trustee to the Global Industrial and Social Progress Research Institute, Vice President of Inamori Foundation, and Chairman of Japan Partnership Co., Ltd. as well as Co-Chairman of Japan –china Economic Information Exchange Committee and Vice Chairman of the board of the U.S.-Japan Foundation.
