Environmental Issues
Environmental considerations are a high priority of EXPO 2005 Aichi, including site planning, operation and transportation.
Efforts have been made to implement environmental conservation measures at each stage of EXPO 2005, including site preparation, during the EXPO itself, and after its conclusion.

Tree planting on site grounds
The EXPO 2005 Association will introduce advanced technologies necessary for building an eco-community, such as recycling technologies, new energy and natural energy development.
Exhibition pavilions are of a modular type that are easy to assemble, dismantle and reuse. In addition, consideration of the 3 Rs (reduce, reuse, recycle) will be actively pursued through such activities as thorough separation and recycling of garbage generated on site grounds.

Use of public railway transportation is actively being promoted through such activities as using the Tobu Kyuryo Line, which has little environmental impact along its length, and making improvements to the Aichi Loop Line. Furthermore, plans to reduce traffic congestion include providing detailed information on the availability of low-pollution transportation, such as IMTS (Intelligent Transport System), within the site grounds. Through these efforts, organizers hope to reduce CO2 emissions.
